On 27th September 2025, the Islamic Information Bureau (IIB) conducted a focused workshop for Sheikhs and Imams, bringing together religious leaders to strengthen their skills in delivering meaningful Friday khutbahs and bayans.
The workshop was held across all six bureaus and was attended by nearly 90 participants — 15 from each bureau. The theme of the workshop was:“The Art of Delivering a Meaningful Friday Khutbah and Bayan: Understanding the Rules and Best Practices.”
The session addressed ongoing challenges and feedback concerning the conduct of some Friday khutbahs and bayans. Its main goal was to provide practical guidance to ensure these weekly sermons are both spiritually enriching and impactful.
The workshop focused on helping participants to:
- Understand the importance and significance of the Friday khutbah in Islam.
- Learn the essential rules and guidelines for delivering a valid khutbah.
- Explore best practices for crafting engaging and effective sermons.
- Discuss common challenges and pitfalls to avoid.
The workshop successfully provided a platform for skill enhancement, peer learning, and reflection. By equipping Sheikhs and Imams with the knowledge and tools to deliver meaningful Friday sermons, IIB continues to strengthen the spiritual guidance offered to the wider community.
